Your CIAT Research Online, February 2017

Dear All,

The Data and Information Services team is pleased to share with you the latest CIAT Research Online Newsletter.  This newsletter includes all of the research outputs submitted since our last newsletter. Congratulations to all for your publications and other research outputs. Please see some key highlights below:
  • CIAT produced great research outputs in 2016, we had 180 journal articles, 39 datasets, 12 book chapters, 7 books, and 34 briefs among other research outputs.
  • The year 2017 has started well with 17 peer reviewed articles published so far. 100% of these are in ISI indexed journals and only 35% are Open Access. 8 datasets have been published.
  • Please remember, depositing the accepted (postprint) manuscript of articles (your final version after peer review) to the library counts as Green Open Access.
  • The Beall's list that kept track of predatory journals is no longer available. Please use this new resource from WAME to identify predatory journals. Always contact the library with questions about predatory journals. For more information read this library blog.
Notable CIAT Tool: Cost Benefit Analysis Tool
The CBA Tool provides a comprehensive methodology to assess socio-economic and environmental trade-offs across various Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices. Results produced by the CBA Tool are key inputs for the prioritization process of CSA practices which allow for the development of tailored CSA investment portfolios for a broad range of decision-makers in agriculture. This is particularly important given the large number of existing CSA practices and technologies. The tool provides a user-friendly online interface which can be accessed from everywhere, by anyone, for free. CBA results vary given the number of existing approaches and methodologies, this tool greatly facilitates the provision of consistent and comparable results.  CBAtool.ciat.cgiar.org

Sincerely on behalf of the "open" team,

Leroy Mwanzia
